Customer Growth
Reflects Market Demand for Location Based Information
Cambridge, MA
–– February 2, 2009 –– MetaCarta, Inc., the leading provider of geographic search solutions, is
proud to announce a substantial growth in its business during Q4 2009, both in
terms of new sales and gaining a greater share of the customer. Following
up on a breakout Q3, MetaCarta successfully grew its sales by over 100 percent
in Q4 compared with the same period last year. The company finished the year
well ahead of forecast and expects even greater growth in 2010.
Sales growth in 2009 came primarily as
a result of strong interest from the U.S. public sector, doubling the company’s
installed base. New public sector customers included various installations in
the U.S. Army, the U.S. Navy, and numerous installations in the Intelligence
Community. The company also saw a significant increase in sales from its media
business, with customers including Microsoft, CBS Interactive and Reuters.
“Our consistent revenue growth is an indicator of the market embracing
geosearch and validation that we’re solving a problem that’s shared by the
private and public sector alike,” said Don Zereski,
CEO of MetaCarta. “Along with doubling our customer base this year, we’ve seen
deal sizes increase substantially. More customers are bringing us in at the
enterprise level to meet their real-time search needs making it easier to find
and act on location-based information.”
MetaCarta will
be launching its Geotagger capability for the Red Hat Platform in early 2010,
unbundling this component from the current appliance offering. The company also
recently released version
4.5 of its MetaCarta Geographic Search and Referencing Platform (GSRP),
which includes Geographic Data Module (GDM) upgrades, tagging enhancements,
connector enhancements, custom gazetteer enhancements, Javascript SDK
enhancements and OpenSearch support.
