MetaCarta and ESRI have been partners for many years. During that time, MetaCarta and ESRI have worked together to extend the reach of GIS solutions in public sector, energy, and enterprise environments. MetaCarta and ESRI offer two gis mapping integrations - the ESRI ArcMap Extension for MetaCarta GTS, and MetaCarta GeoTagger for ESRI ArcWeb Services.
The ESRI ArcMap Extension for MetaCarta GTS allows end users to search MetaCarta GTS Appliances from within the ESRI ArcMap interface. Results from a search query appear as icons on a digital map.
Extension allows ESRI users to:
- Search and retrieve documents
- Display result sets on a map
- Store result sets as intelligent layers or shapefiles
To use MetaCarta GTS within ESRI ArcMap, you must have ESRI ArcMap installed on your desktop and have network access to a MetaCarta GTS Appliance.
MetaCarta's GeoTagger integration with ESRI ArcWeb Services allows users to geo-reference data found in unstructured documents such as articles, field service documents, and Web pages and view the results in custom mapping applications. ArcWeb Services allows users to access GIS content and capabilities over the Web, on-demand. Data storage, maintenance, and updates are handled by ESRI eliminating the overhead of purchasing and maintaining large data sets.
